Name of Track: I Was Made For This

The track is called “I was made for this” It was played on Radio One recently (22nd May on Huw Stephens Introducing show), so any more airplay would be much appreciated.

This version is a stripped down version of the original track, which has more lyrics. It’s basically about the fact that I feel that I was made to create music. The main lyrics are “I was made for this” and “keep me alive”. Think that sounds a bit arsey but it’s not about that. I don’t believe in a God or a higher being, but I do believe that each of us has a purpose, and mine is to create music. It sounds a bit philosophical, and deep, and like I say could be interpreted as being a bit arsey, but it’s just a fact: This is what I love doing – creating music. Pretty simple really Smile

I used Logic Pro 8 to create the track. I’ve been producing for several years, and I also DJ – hence the name DJ Lunik Wink

I have been picked by DJ Mag as their Top Pick of Pick ‘n’ Mix back in March/April 2007

Producer: Tom Lennox
How long producing: Since 2006
Software/Hardware used: Reason, Logic, Ableton, Reaktor, Roland MC-303, mini-KP

Other Tracks in 2008: Northern Soul, Deep Breath with a new EP underway at the moment.

10243:
10243 is my homage to the more traditional school of techno, no clicks n cuts in this one. I’ve always loved real stripped back tracks and that warehouse feel and I’ve gone for that vibe with this track, based around a series of increasing dubbed out synth chords and a punchy bass-kick it. The title owes itself to a sound I’ve been loving over the last couple of years (its a post code somewhere in Europe Wink) and once again shows my obsession with the darker, more industrial side of techno.

Deep Within:
Deep Within continues along the dub techno route of my Northern Soul tune and is inspired by a lot of that music I love such as Quantec and Andy Stott. Its a stripped back,119 bpm dubby trippy with changing layers of analogue synth sweeps all underpinned by a steady 4/4 beat to keep you locked in. I really enjoyed working at a slower pace with this track and it seems to give the synths real space to get lost in, I’ll definitely be working on a few more tracks in this vein.

Producer Feedback: This one came about randomly one afternoon. I always make bits and bobs and i just started throwing a few together then making melodies on some deep atmospheric pads and the track just came from nowhere. After the feedback from my Afterhours mix i felt i’d like to make some chilled out music myself to use on Volume 2. This is the first track produced for the EP, finished Papaya earlier in the week so that will appear soon. The dophins sounds came about after i decided to add some soothing sound effects. Papaya has similar, subtle sound effects aswell

Producer Feedback: This track was an idea i’d had for a while. I’d been knocking together some deep proggy tracks or deep ambient tracks but felt like a change. Most music i mix is electro breaks and so i ended up making this gritty, quite dark experimental broken beat track. Its a funny one to put in a genre and not everyones cup of tea but it has grown on me quite a bit. Its a difficult one to categorise; Start a competition – Come up with the best sub-genre for this track.
The parts where some i’d made a while ago and other that i built up around the track.

Completed Works

Andy Baker – Ceritos (Deep Prog)
Andy Baker – Peppermint Tea (Deep/mellow Prog)
Future Funk Squad – The Mothership (Andy Baker’s Miles From Mars Remix) (Breaks)
Andy Baker – Spotted Dolphins (Ambient)
Andy Baker – Papaya (Ambient)
Andy Baker – Electronic Robotnic (Experimental Breakbeat)
Andy Baker – Surface To Air (Electro Breaks)

Working on an Afterhours EP including Spotted Dolphins & Papaya

About another half a dozen tracks currently in production
